Why Goal setting is important for success? Steps to achieve them

 *GOAL SETTING*
   --------------------------
Many students work hard but fail to succeed because they haven't spent enough time to set a proper goal. Will you like to go on a long journey without knowing your destination. Answer is NO. If you want to succeed, you need to set a goal as it also provides the benchmark for determining whether you are actually succeeding.
A goal is a desired result that a person plans and commits to achieve.
You can do miracles in life if you set a proper goal as Nothing is impossible in life.
*In short....* This one step... Choosing goal and sticking to it, changes everything
🔴 *Types of goal*
Students who set goals early are 275 times more likely to achieve results compared to those who are working hard.
Let us assume you are studying in class 9th and you want to become Doctor
🔹 Long-term goal means a goal set to be achieved after 2 year of setting.
Example: I want to be Doctor after 4 year (After class 12th)
🔹 Medium term goal means goal set to be achieved in a period between 6 months to 2 year of setting
Example: I want to do my foundation course with excellent result in Science and Math
🔹 Short term goal means goal set to be achieved in a period less than 6 months of setting
Example: I want to get an 'A' grade in Science and Math.
🔹 Life long goal like to remain healthy forever.
You can always set 2 or 3 more short terms or 1 or 2 more medium term goals more like getting good marks in class 10th board exam. Avoid multiple long-term goals.
*In short...*  Your goal are the road maps that guide you and show you what is possible for your life
🔴 *Why don't maximum students set goals?*
🔹 Low self-confidence
They don't believe that they could significantly achieve more than they are currently achieving in their studies.
🔹 Fear of setting goal
You may believe that your family members or friends will laugh at your ideas or goals you present. Also fear of failure keeps you in your routine comfort zone and stops you getting big goals.
🔹 Bad personal habit
Few bad habits like social media addiction, poor friend circle, habit of procrastination, laziness are very strong reasons to avoid goal setting.
🔹 Immediate result
Goal setting requires focus on future and maximum students want everything immediately, so they avoid goal setting
🔹 Ignorance of knowledge about goal setting and how it really works.
Example: Maximum students wait till class 10th result or 12th before deciding about their career.
*Remember....* Students who set the goals usually succeed because they know where they are going

🟣 *Why set a goal?*

❇ Long-term benefits
     ---------------------------------
🔹 Focus on specific target
To succeed in life or to achieve beyond your potential, you must have single-minded devotion towards a specific target. Even if you're brilliant, if you don't focus on a specific target and hold it there; you're not going to achieve your potential.
Example: If class 11th student-A takes both Biology and Math and works hard for 2 year without knowing what he wants to do after 2 year and another student-B chooses Math and Electronic as he wants to do Engineering. After 2 year, a student with a clear goal will succeed as having a clear, compelling goal mobilzes your focus towards actionable behavior.
🔹 Develop skill and talent in above subject
When you set a goal, you naturally direct your action towards the next step thus you motivate yourself in developing skills and talent in specific tasks.
Example: If you know where you are going like student-B knows, he will spend his 2-year in developing skills in Math, Physics and Chemistry rather than in all subjects.
❇ Short term benefits
     --------------------------------
🔹 Help in everyday action, so you can focus more on the above subjects. He won't attend Biology and will give little focus on other subjects like English and Electronics.
🔹 Motivate to work hard
As student-B has a mental cue that triggers his focus and motivates him to work hard towards his goal.
*In short...* Goal setting is a powerful process for thinking about your ideal future and for motivating yourself to turn your vision of this future into reality
🟣 *Important points in goal setting*
Maximum students fail not because of lack of ability or hard work, it is because of poor goal setting. Use following principles to set the goal
🔹 Set goal that motivates you
🔹 Be specific
🔹 Be measurable
🔹 Be realistic
🔹 Be time bond
🔹 You must evaluate intermittently
*In short...* Dream without goal remains dream
❇️ Set goals that motivate you
      --------------------------------------------------
It is the most important step in goal setting.
🔳 Follow your passion
🔹 If you feel like there is something out there that you're supposed to be doing, then stop discussion and just do it. 🔹 If you have passion for something, you will create talent.
🔹 Choose the career that you love and you will never love to work a day in your life.
**In short....* If you don't want to wake up in the morning excited to pick up where you left your work yesterday, you haven't found your passion
🔳 If you don't have passion
Involve your parents and take help of teachers while choosing a career.
🔺 Know your strength and weakness
🔹If are good in studies till date, look for higher education or business field
▪️ If you're good at math, choose Engineering, Medical, CA or any career.
▪️ If you're moderate in Math, choose Medical, CA or any career except Engineering.
▪️ If you're poor in Math, choose law, civil services or any career except Medicine, Engineering or CA.
🔹 If poor in studies till date, choose business or skill based services
*In short....* The risk of wrong decision is preferable to the terror of indecision.
🔺 Explore a lot of untouched career like photography, Master chef etc
🔺 Make use of educational counseling
🔹 Visit a qualified educational counselor
🔹 Aptitude test
*Still remember....* It is your attitude not aptitude will determine your success
❇️ Be specific in goal setting
      ---------------------------------------------
🔹 Write specific goal in details
▪️ I want to play is not specific goal, I want to play for district team is specific goal
▪️ I want to study hard, but what? I want to be collector is specific goal
🔹 Clear goal allow you to control the direction
*In short...* Focus on your goal and never give up
❇️ Be measurable in goal setting
      --------------------------------------------------
🔹 Goal setting should include numbers like how much / many?
▪️ I want 95% marks in Account
▪️ I want to lose 5 kg weight
🔹 Also help in evaluation of your progress and know if you have reached the ultimate destination
*In short....* Arriving at one goal is the starting point of another goal
❇️ Be realistic in goal setting
      ----------------------------------------------
🔹 You are weak in Math and want to be Engineer is not realistic goal setting
🔹 Still sky is limit if you want to pursue your dream of Engineering
▪ If you had set difficult goal, keep operational goal easy
▪ If you achieve a operational goal too easily, make the next operational goal a little harder
▪ If the operational goal took long time to achieve, make next operational goal a little easier
🔹 If you find difficult to achieve your main goal, change your dream
*Remember...* Always set Realistic yet challenging goal
❇ Set time bound goal
      --------------------------------
🔹 Sense of urgency increases
Example: I want to learn guitar but if you write I want to learn guitar in 6 months is appropriate
🔹 Motivate to work faster and harder
*In short...* Lost time is never found again
🟣 *Where does goal setting go wrong?*
🔹 Unrealistic goal setting
Example: Your score in the 10th class is 45% and you want to qualify for Computer branch in IIT
🔹 When goal setting are unclear
Example: I will take Arts after 10th but what next
🔹 Goals that are beyond your control
Example: I want to be rich person by winning lottery ticket
🔹 Too many goals
Example: I want to be CA, motivational speaker and play for India
*In short....* The trouble with not setting goal is that you can spend your life running up & down the field and never score a goal
🟣 *Be passionate about your goal*
Once you have set the goal, be passionate about your dream.
🔹 Every time you make decisions during the day, ask yourself this; “does it take me closer to my goal.” If yes, go and do it.
🔹 Before you sleep in the night, recall what you have done today will help to reach your goal. If yes, praise yourself and if not, take a pledge not to repeat the same mistake tomorrow.
*In short...* Set a goal that makes you want to jump out of the bed in the morning.
