How to study effectively in less time?; Improve focus while studying.
*How to study?*
When you sit down to study, how do you transfer that massive amount of information from the books to a reliable spot in your mind? You need to develop good study habits.
While there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach when it comes to studying effectively, there are methods you can use to improve your recall and long-term memory.
This topic will cover
๐น Principal of study
๐น Organizes your study space
*Remember:* Everyone has different learning techniques. What works for others may not work for you.
Just keep trying until you discover the best way to study.
❇️ Principal of learning
Maximum students focus on studying maximum time to get the best result but focus or concentration is equally important.
*Work = Time × Focus*
It means that if .....
# Student A studies for 10 hours but it's focus is 30 minutes per hour then total effective study time is 300 minutes.
# Student B studies for 8 hours but its focus is 40 minutes per hour then total effective study time is approximately 300 minutes.
# Student C studies for 6 hours but its focus is 50 minutes per hour then total effective study time is 300 minutes.
# Student D studies for 5 hours but its focus is 60 minutes per hour then total effective study time is 300 minutes.
*In short...* Consistent hard work & focus will multiply your success.
◾ How much time shall we study?
It depends upon your dream. If you want more, work for more time. But make sure that you are able to concentrate during allocated time.
*In short*- Time isn't the main thing, it's the only thing.
◾ How to improve focus?
Focus is the key in studying so try to improve your focus not only during self-study but also during class room teaching.
While studying has never been the most exciting aspect of life, concentration is even more difficult if it is hard or boring. When you sit down to study, are you the type of person who opens a book, then checks your phone, gets a snack and starts studying again. It means that your focus is poor.
*Remember*- Concentration is the root of all success.
Focus depends upon the lifestyle of students
There are 3 types of lifestyles...
▪️Monostic
Such students live as no one lives with them. Even at their own house, they don't get involved in any form of discussion. The only aim is to work hard.
▪️Bi-model style
Such students work hard while studying and enjoy playing or watching TV etc during their leisure time. Remember - such students are able to maintain balance between hard work & leisure time as per their planning.
▪️ Rhythmic style
Such students usually focus more on daily enjoyment and less on studies. Usually they dream about working hard but waste maximum time on mobile. Of course, they work very hard during exams but it won't give results in competitive exams.
*In short*- Students who live in the monostatic type of lifestyle give the best result.
๐น Focus during self study
▪️Approch at the time of study while choosing the subject
Maximum students study easy topics or easy subjects during the early part of self study or most productive time of the day. It is wrong, in fact you must study hard topics or hard subjects early in the day or during most productive time, followed by an easier one.
A study was conducted in the topmost MBA college where three groups of 50 students were made. Two papers were given to each group with one set very hard and the second set was easy. Time allotted to each paper was 1 hour.
Group A solves hard paper first then easy paper after finishing the first one.
Group B solves easy paper first then hard paper after finishing first one
Group C solves hard paper for half an hour then easy paper for half an hour. Again, they solve the remaining hard paper for the next half an hour and solve the remaining easy paper in the last half hour.
*Result*: Group A performance was best, followed by Group B and Group C results were the poorest.
*Conclusion*: Always study hard subjects or topics initially then study the easy one.
Always concentrate on one topic till you finish it then move on to the second one.
*In short*- Always focus on one task, don't look in any direction.

❇️ Organise your study space
๐น Choose a place

▪️ Ensure adequate lighting
# Use desk lamp to focus on working space
# Use overhead light to brighten the room.
▪️ Ensure adequate ventilation

▪️ If not possible, always use table & chair for study.
▪️ Reduce desk clutter like unnecessary pen, papers, books etc.
▪️ Remove all electronic gadgets like mobile phone.

▪️ Arrange all necessary books & stationery items
▪️ Arrange food if you are studying in library.
*In short* - One day these small things with hard work will make you a legend.
